The advantage of removing the pan is that this can be checked for warning signs of a problem developing, such as mud and debris & thoroughly cleaned, then the filter and gasket replaced & the pan/plug reattached goes. The entire pan, Drain the oil, or just the plug can be removed. The car is then raised high enough on a ramp, lift, or jack to allow access to pan transmission. To replace the oil, The car must be driven or driven for a short term of time to warm the oil to normal operating temperature. Replacing your transmission Oil is a relatively straightforward procedure that you can do yourself. As the miles increase, this wear & tear causes the transmission Oil to become thinner and dirty – losing its ability to remove heat from inside transmission. So as you can see, transmissions oil is constantly being subjected to pressure, high heat, and friction.
